Intro

This article will clarify what you can expect for 2025 in Nicolas Thành personal blog. In fact, last year, so many changes happened in my life at the same time. That is why it was confusing on my blog to share updates.

First, if you don’t know me yet, check this article introducing my journey in Vietnam. Then I will share more here about the recent changes in my life over the past year so that I can share my plans for 2025 with you.

My 2024 transformation

I thought it would be useful if you knew what happened to me in 2024 so you can better understand my plans for 2025.

First challenge: career

The first thing I did was to quit my full time job in January. My goal was to regain flexibility, be able to work online again among other things. So I started offering freelance services.

Second challenge: moving from Saigon to Da Nang

In June, after two months of almost full time preparation, we managed to move out of Saigon and settle in Da Nang.

Da Nang is a beach city in Central Vietnam. It is the third largest city of Vietnam. It has an international airport, it’s quite developed especially with the tourism.

The main reason I decided to move was for my family; we wanted fresh air, more nature, more space. At that moment; me being an online freelancer was the perfect match to try this new lifestyle.

Third challenge: be at ease with content creation

For many years now, especially after ranking number one my hostel before covid, I understood the power of social media and SEO. But I was lacking two things: knowledge of posting online content and confidence in posting content, especially videos.

So I took my chance and started my YouTube channel. This was the best decision I took this year because now I know what mistakes not to make in order to be good at content creation.

Fourth challenge: build a consulting business in Vietnam

Freelancing like I’ve been doing since early 2024 (see my services here) is basically recreating yourself a job; except you might be making more money, work less and with more flexibility.. and more risks.

I’ve been a very “balanced” freelancer. I accepted only good projects and didn’t work too much to focus on family and myself.

BUT… my conclusion of this after trying to be a freelancer for a year is that it’s almost like having a business but you’re still working everyday. No, thank you!

I want to build a business instead. So I decided to learn, jump outside of my comfort zone for the fourth time this year and start creating my consulting business.

So this is what 2025 will be about…

So, what are my plans for 2025?

First, separating perso and pro

This blog will be my personal blog. So I will not share any news from Scale in Peace (my business here). I made this decision because I am not a freelancer anymore or at least, Scale in Peace needs to have its own communication separated from mine.

Staying one more year living in Danang!

As mentioned above, after more than 10 years in Saigon, I moved to Da Nang in 2024. My life right now in this city is almost like a fresh start and I know for a fact that many expatriates are interested in what I am discovering.

So in 2025, this blog will be focusing on my life in Vietnam on all the different aspects. I will share my answers to:

• expats who want to know more about living in Danang.
• expats who want to build a business in Vietnam.
• entrepreneurs here who want to grow their business faster, better in Vietnam.
• families with young kids wondering about Da Nang and the education system.

Career: Scaling my own business

My goal is not to work inside my own business forever. That is actually why I am reducing offering freelancing services now and want to open a consulting business.

So this blog will share also the details of how I scale, how I grow. Knowing that I’ve already done it with my former hostel so my plan is to try to reproduce + reuse my latest experiences + what I learned in the meantime.
