How can I make smarter decisions for my business, especially when facing different types of situations?

Since Covid I completely changed how I make decisions. It’s done on a weekly basis, with acceptance and more focus on “what will not change”. I share 4 powerful tips in this article. If you are taking too long to decide some times the simplest the best! So use the “Hell yes, or no” technique to quickly evaluate options, going with your gut feeling for those opportunities that excite you. I also wrote 10 hacks to make better decisions, that I still use as of today. Check them out here.

What’s the most effective way to prioritize my tasks and avoid feeling overwhelmed?

I recommend using the Eisenhover matrix and focusing on the blocking issue. Creating a “to-finish list” instead of a “to-do list” to focus on what you can realistically accomplish each day is my ultimate hack, though. This helps control your day and motivates you by ensuring you finish tasks. More on this in my 3 minutes video here.

How can I improve my online visibility and attract more customers to my business?

I offer a free checklist to help fix your online visibility. It is more like a complete roadmap actually, so… enjoy! I also suggest engaging in Facebook groups to interact with potential customers and create a backlink to your Facebook page. I emphasize the importance of having a website that is set for conversion. Additionally, I suggest that an FAQ page may be better than a blog for small businesses to improve visibility.

How can I ensure my team is aligned and motivated, especially on Monday mornings?

For this I recommend the work of Coach Loan Tran who is better than anyone else to explain how to build dream teams. I suggest implementing a “Monday morning meeting” (MMM) to align tasks, check on the previous week’s progress, and plan for the upcoming week. This involves reviewing to-do lists, discussing past events, and checking the progress. I also suggest that you ask yourself “how can I help you today” to encourage them to solve their own problems. See more in this video sharing beginners management tips.

What is the best way to learn from my failures in business?

The best way is to not fail!… always ensure you learn something from failures. Failures are experiences. I shared some tips here.

How do I balance my entrepreneurial spirit with the need for business management?

You need both an entrepreneurial mindset for vision and a business management mindset for operations. See why here. I encourage entrepreneurs to learn about business management to effectively handle accounting, finance, marketing, sales, and other operations.

What’s a good way to approach content creation for my small business in Vietnam?

You need to create content. It’s crucial. Creating videos is a the most daunting but the best way I think; mainly because that’s what people consume more and they can be repurposed into podcasts (go listent to Creators in Vietnam), blog articles and social media content. I also recommends focusing on authenticity (see my video explaining why) and sharing your daily experiences and insights about your business. Content creation is a tool to impact more people and scale your business’ reach and it goes along with a good SEO strategy. No idea what is best between SEO and Social media? Watch my take on this.

How can I manage my team effectively, especially as a first-time manager?

I recommend a leadership approach that involves going to your employees and asking them how you can help them. I suggest that you encourage them to propose solutions to problems. I also advise to provide a budget for decision making (both financial and for mistakes) and ensure they learn from mistakes. See the video here.

How do I know if I need to redesign my website?

There are essentially five reasons you might need to redesign your website:
– outdated content (poor communication),
– lack of responsiveness on mobile devices,
– poor user experience,
– low visibility on search engines,
– and slow loading performance.

I recommend using tools such as Google Search Console and Pagespeed Insights to assess your website’s performance. I offer a checklist to help DYI the problems and find solutions.

What is the most important piece of advice you have for foreigners doing business in Vietnam?

Based on my 10+ years of experience in Vietnam, I advise to practice self-control and patience, especially when facing challenges or disagreements. Foreigners usually underestimate the importance of being polite and respectful in interactions with locals.
